The Scarecrow of Romney Marsh

Mina Loy is inside
its egg-shell thin chest
the sternum
a trough
of indigestible quiltlets
come to life
'ware wheavin vyne'
and the horned visspules
that give her machete'
maps less solidly swarming
break off into modular
thought-bubbles whose agated
root-toes heave like pugilist babies
from another poem's memory

Ella Fitzgerald
could be
Romney Fritzmarshue

"show" looks about shoe
with an unequal contention
but apprehension staves "to"
with prehenstyles grippling
prehenstylus, and as usual
seeming say

A witch came forth,
the she-kyn weth the egg
eg:

"GE clws cwllwy rwn wymx th rxk..."
