heteros ek heterou sophos -Bacchylides


clear glass flames
halo
a pale translucent jade elephant trunk
& in each long snaking nostril
sleeps one deep purple worm
unconsciously signalling the other
through the septum
with its luminous clitellum

in life as life
the poem and the reader
are one

as ornamental prehensillity
unable to grasp
but still
gently blinking

and what errs hear
is pure somniloquy
