Silence's Eyes

under the enclosing umbrella
of its spherical breath
the plain makes its way
with candor and death
and the breathing underneath
is the double stalk
of the polar pinion
all transparency evade
the bat wings over hades
and the dim shadow
that light ever anew
will breach to the depth
of its sinewy folly
light and sign mutinous
and intermangling

and raining ink
what guides the shower
are two dour halos set apart
in the glow of the cylindrical cloud
far below whose penultimate name
is pen meaning head
but what dulled nib hasn't noticed this
pairing of erisian irises,
the idle warriors
whose span is deft expression
upon this vision of silences
