La casa sin fronteras

(for Tom W Lewis)

To Eικόνες(!), it is never quite clear
whether The Organization is part
of the government, a secret society,
or something else. Whatever it is,
it is powerful, and does not take
disobedience lightly.

Eικόνες(!), a wealthy former mental patient
goes home to her estate to rest and recuperate.
While walking the grounds one day she hears
the screams of a woman coming from underneath
the ground who has been buried alive.
Her family, however, refuses to believe her story,
and sees the incident as an opportunity to prove
the woman's mind has snapped so they can take
control of her money.

Eικόνες(!) makes a resolution to herself
to create a slapstick comedy lampooning
bureaucracy and the madness of everyday life
and so, centers her own story on an escaped
lunatic (Being There!) who digs up the streets
of every city with a pneumatic drill.
Eικόνες(!)'s random excavations set off a
chain reaction of political pandemonium,
as her family, the Organization, and numerous
other well-managed secret societies, or
misguided government agencies rush
to assist and claim credit for the project..

In the end Eικόνες(!) laughs at them all.
"And they told me nothing was holy any more.."
